On June 22, 2025, Tesla officially launched its Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, marking a milestone in the company’s autonomous mobility strategy. Each ride reportedly costs only USD 4.2, signaling Tesla’s ambition to make self-driving transportation affordable and accessible at scale.

Amazon’s autonomous driving subsidiary Zoox followed closely, announcing on September 11, 2025, the public rollout of its Robotaxi service in Las Vegas. This launch marks Zoox’s first commercial deployment in the U.S., positioning it to compete directly with Waymo and Tesla in the rapidly evolving autonomous mobility market.

Meanwhile, Waymo continues its geographic expansion and plans to launch its Robotaxi operations in Nashville in 2026, further broadening its service footprint across the United States.

Internationally, Pony.ai’s Luxembourg division announced on October 17, 2025, a partnership with Stellantis Group to jointly test Robotaxi services in Luxembourg, with plans to expand to other parts of Europe in 2026. This collaboration signifies growing cross-border interest in autonomous ride-hailing technology and the integration of established automotive manufacturers with AI-driven mobility startups.
