Superalloy Market Valued at 12-16 Billion USD in 2025; Aerospace Sector Drives 55% of Demand

Date : 2025-12-25 Reading : 777
According to the latest monitoring data from HDIN Research, the global superalloy market size is estimated to reach between 12.0 billion and 16.0 billion USD in 2025. Propelled by the recovery in commercial aviation and advancements in power generation technologies, the market is projected to maintain a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5% to 7% from 2025 to 2030.

Market Composition and Applications
Superalloys, also known as High-Performance Alloys (HRSA), are engineered to operate at a high fraction of their melting point, making them indispensable for extreme environments. Global consumption of these materials currently exceeds 300,000 tons annually.

The market structure is defined by material composition and manufacturing processes. Nickel-based superalloys dominate the sector, accounting for 80% of the total volume, followed by Iron-based (14.3%) and Cobalt-based (5.7%) alloys. In terms of processing, wrought superalloys represent 70% of the market, while casting and powder metallurgy segments account for 20% and 10%, respectively.

The aerospace industry remains the primary driver, consuming 55% of global superalloy output, specifically for aircraft engines. The power industry (gas turbines and nuclear power) ranks second with a 20% share, followed by the machinery industry at 10%.

Industry Consolidation and Regional Landscape
The global superalloy industry is characterized by high technical barriers and a stable competitive landscape, primarily led by manufacturers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Key international players include Precision Castparts Corporation, Carpenter Technology Corporation, and ATI.

Recent years have seen significant strategic shifts. Notably, the industry saw a major consolidation when Haynes International was acquired by Acerinox on November 21, 2024, strengthening the European footprint in the high-performance alloy sector. Additionally, the Japanese giant Hitachi Metals, Ltd. rebranded as Proterial on January 4, 2023, signaling a strategic realignment.

Production Updates from Key Chinese Manufacturers
Chinese manufacturers are rapidly expanding capacity to meet domestic demand in aerospace and industrial sectors. HDIN Research has compiled 2024 production data and 2025 expansion plans for key enterprises.

Fushun Special Steel reported a superalloy output of 8,500 tons in 2024, maintaining a leading position in the domestic market. Western Superconducting Technologies produced 1,264.29 tons in the same period.

Expansion projects are accelerating in 2025. Jiangsu Longda Superalloy, which produced 4,013.71 tons in 2024, is set to add 2,000 tons of casting superalloy capacity and 3,000 tons of wrought superalloy capacity within the year. Meanwhile, Zhonghang Shangda Superalloys is advancing its construction of a super-pure high-performance alloy project with an annual capacity of 8,000 tons, expected to be operational by late 2027.
